The new month has seen us welcome a new supply agreement with Rutherford VI, an established South African survey equipment and accessory supplier.

Rutherford, a solely owned subsidiary of Hudaco Trading, distributes world renowned brands through its four divisions, with each division a leader in its category.

These comprise of VI Instruments, Makita Industrial Power Tools, Rutherford Marine and F.T.S Industries.

VI Instruments is headed by Divisional Director Dave Pendrill who is driving the market strategy in Southern Africa. This coincides with the VI’s appointment as distributors for GeoMax, a member of the prestigious Hexagon Group.

In 1937, Cooke, Troughton & Simms was formed to distribute quality surveying instruments in South Africa.

In 1956, Vickers PLC took ownership and the company’s name was changed to Vickers Instruments, until 1983 when the company was sold to local shareholders, Hudaco and has since been a division of Rutherford.

Today, the company distributes several well-known brands throughout the Southern African region, namely:

• Topcon (digital levels, total stations, global positioning and machine control systems),
• Ruide (total station, electronic theodolites, hand-held laser distance meter, digital level),
• South (Surveying & Mapping Instruments),
• GeoMax (survey equipment and accessories),
• and Troxler (nuclear gauges, nuclear moisture/density gauges).
